Vesuvio Cafe says…

By the time Ramparts magazine shuttered its operation in 1975, a short 13 years after its inception as a Catholic quarterly, the rabble-rousing rag had left an indelible impression on American journalism. Boasting an anti-establishment corps of all-star contributors such as Noam Chomsky, Susan Sontag, Cesar Chavez, and Angela Davis, the magazine relished in grating the likes of J. Edgar Hoover and Lyndon B. Johnson at every turn. Tonight, author Peter Richardson — joined by Ramparts alumni — celebrates the release of his history of the first magazine to publish a JFK conspiracy theory and link the CIA to the National Student Association.
