In 1996, Chris Deckker founded Earthdance with a single crazy idea in mind—to spread peace through music via a synched-up global dance party. From 22 cities, Earthdance now counts over 300 communities among its earth-circling network of dance music activists. And from experimental electronica, the party line-ups now embrace reggae, hip-hop, and all manner of global grooves. The founders never forgot their original mission, though, with a list of national, local, and international charities working for environmental and social justice.
