Mary Anne Kluth and Laurel Roth's art plays off of science's tendency to make the world endlessly sub-divisible. What Michael Pollan has called "reductive science," Kluth and Roth treat as an aesthetically generative myopia. Kluth's paintings — by turns photo-realistically precise and wildly abstract — map unseen terrains modeled by radio astronomers. Roth's new work, meanwhile, is markedly more terrestrial. Her wooden sculptures of farm animal remains, polished to a seductive sheen and embellished with crystals and gold leaf, are unsettling "prize breed" relics of Big Agriculture.
