Given the return of the speakeasy, and all things small batch and high class, the spirit if not the letter of Prohibition has been a recent touchstone for bar culture. Tonight, join Bourbon and Branch owner Brian Sheehy; Broadway North Beach, The Golden Years: A Saloon Keeper’s Tales author and former owner of North Beach bar Pierre’s from 1960-65, Dick Boyd; and marijuana business theorist Michael Whitson, as they discuss the golden age of bootleggers and blind pigs, and touch on what lessons history may hold for our current moment in which the effort to decriminalize another substance — pot —has never been so successful, or debated.
