The Marsh says…

Dan Hoyle is often noted as a rare hybrid of playwright, actor, and journalist. On the heels of his long-running, much lauded Tings Dey Happen — an exploration of the nasty politics behind the Nigerian oil business — Hoyle takes after Studs Turkel in his newest play, The Real Americans. Debuted as a work-in-progress reading last April, the solo performance features Hoyle re-engaging with a series of interactions from a 100-day road trip through small-town America. Striking up conversations with an assortment of characters, ranging from cowboys and farmers to convicts, soldiers, and preachers, Hoyle examines how, as Sarah Palin calls it, "the real America" lives — and in the process, roots around humorously and persuasively for the core ideals of our national spirit.
