Violating two out of the ten commandments is the MO of this year's Noir City Film Festival, with over 20 films celebrating lust and larceny (along with a whole host of other crimes). Highlights include tributes to screenwriter William Bowers, whose acid one-liners zing through the opening night double bill of Pitfall (1948) and Larceny (1948), and director Robert Siodmak, of Phantom Lady fame. There are plenty of dames, too, this year, from British ice skating phenom Belita in 1946's Suspense, to the incarcerated she-devils of Women's Prison (1955), to Marilyn Monroe vamping it up in Niagara (1953) and The Asphalt Jungle (1950). Rarely has being bad ever looked so good.
