For the first time ever inkBoat will share the stage with AXIS Dance Company, one of the most acclaimed and innovative ensembles to integrate performers with and without disabilities. ODD features choreography by Shinichi Iova-Koga, a score by famed cellist/composer Joan Jeanrenaud (formerly of the Kronos Quartet) and music by vocalist Dohee Lee. The collaboration was inspired by the paintings of Odd Nerdrum. With echoes of Rembrandt and Caravaggio and inspiration from Wyeth, Nerdrum plumbs the depths of the human condition, exploring themes of loneliness, fear, brutality, hatred, sexuality, birth, death, and degradation with a precision that borders on the hallucinatory.
