More Björk than Cher, quirky-smart anti-diva Mirah's voice has a little-kid quality to it; her halting pace and soft-sweet vocal textures are set against sparse indie orchestrations and the occasional snatch of resigned shoegaze static. Her new album, (a)spera, leaves behind the last one's bug fascination for the kind of mid-tempo, heartrending anthems that already earned her the dubious honor of licensing spots on The Garden and So You Think You Can Dance. Tonight she plays a collaobrative set with local Thao Nguyen, who expertly blend wistful indie folk with a bit of blues crunch.
