“Fresh from rocking an opening gig at Atlas Sound's sold-out Noisepop show, SF's Geographer celebrate the release of Animal Shapes, their latest EP. A follow-up to 2008's Innocent Ghosts, Geographer has spent the past two years flexing their musical muscles, experimenting with an wider array of midi and electro elements sounds to combine with their signature indie pop and Mike Deni's delicately disarming vocals. Former hometown heroes Love Like Fire return to their old haunt to play a special headlining set - a fitting send-off for Geographer who are heading to the SXSW stages later this month.”

In the summer of 2005, after a series of deaths in the family, Michael Deni left New Jersey for San Francisco. He spent the next months with his guitar and a synthesizer he found on the street, turning the tragedy that drove him from home into songs rich with emotion and melodies. After the additions of cellist Nathan Blaz (previously of St. Vincent) and drummer Brian Ostreicher, Geographer spent the next year crafting synth-infused epics that have captivated audiences all over the West Coast.
