Manchester Orchestra
Thursday Mar 11, 2010 (6:30pm)
$16 - 19
“I do declare! It is a good evening for rock n' roll! The Peach State-natives, Manchester Orchestra, are neither Mancunians, nor an orchestra. Lead singer Andy Hull settled on the name as a homage to the hometown of his heroes the Smiths. The orchestra part? When he founded the band he wanted to have a rotating base of back-up musicians. The final five-piece incarnation brings indie rock and Southern charm to the Great American Music Hall Thursday with the support of The Features, Biffy Clyro, and O'Brother.”
Mean Everything To Nothing, the second album from Manchester Orchestra, is everything you want a rock record to be: raw, urgent, emotional and 100 percent authentic. Inspired by the pounding, primal assault of Weezer's Pinkerton, Nirvana's In Utero, and Foo Fighters' The Colour and the Shape, this young band has created its own version of what a classic rock album should sound like.
