“Twestival is an annual grassroots event with the tagline, "Tweet. Meet. Give." It was founded in 2009 by Amanda Rose, when she was writing her masters thesis about Twitter. She decided to channel her micro-blogging obsession into off-line events to raise funds for charity: water. Rose set out to coordinate tweet-ups in 20 cities worldwide, and was overwhelmed with the response--202 cities participated and $250,000 was raised. This year's Twestival charity is education non-profit Concern Worldwide. San Franciscan philanthropists gather at Horizon in North Beach for live music from Stroke 9, book readings, and goodie bags galore.”

On Thursday 25 March 2010, people in hundreds of cities around the world will come together offline to rally around the important cause of education by hosting local events to have fun and create awareness. Twestival™ uses social media for social good. All of the local events are organized 100% by volunteers and 100% of all ticket sales and donations go direct to projects.
