Alison Pebworth’s new project explores the notion that the 19th-century stress ailment Americanitis is alive and kicking. She blends public art, social practice, and the aesthetics of a traveling road show into a unique twist on the "bike/walk/hike/run for the cure" model. Grab your BMX and join her as she gathers data rather than funds. Together, you'll probe into what collectively ails us, with the aim of uncovering a panacea for Americanitis. While the latter might amount to peddling snake oil, your pedaling in this bracing and inventive outing will open your eyes and mind.

Southern Exposure says:

Join Alison Pebworth as she pedals around San Francisco gathering data about modern day Americanitis. Meet at SoEx at noon for a brief introduction and training session. Participants are encouraged to ride with Alison or pair off and collect data on their own. The research gathered on this day and over the course of this 6-week project will be used to fashion an elixir specific to a San Franciscan notion of Americanitis.
