“San Francisco's Dan the Automator has always blended turntable beats with live musicians, most notably as producer of the first Gorillaz record. He's back in his hometown for Audio Alchemy, his bi-monthly club night, which aims to explore the DJ as a live music experience. Tonight’s headliner is the ever playful Kid Koala. The Canadian turntablist’s album Some of My Best Are DJs, released on Ninja Tunes, came complete with a comic and mini chess set. Tonight expect a breathtaking mix of samples, scratches, and silliness that will have you dancing and smiling, like you've joined a cult.”
Yoshi's says:
Audio Alchemy is a new bi-monthly series featuring vanguard DJs in the mix and performing with live musicians. It will boldly explore the role of the DJ in the creation of music today.
