Harold Varmus won the 1989 Nobel Prize, along with longtime collaborator Dr. Michael Bishop, for their groundbreaking research into the genetic basis of cancer. As the Director of the National Institutes of Health under the Clinton Administration, Varmus co-founded the Public Library of Science. Varmus is currently the President of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City and a scientific advisor to President Obama. His most recent book, The Art and Politics of Science, is a reflection on his remarkable career. Harold Varmus will be in conversation with Roy Eisenhardt.
