Journalist Rich Cohen is known for his energetic and humorous writing about characters past and present. Cohen's reporting has appeared in Harper's, Rolling Stone, and Vanity Fair. Cohen's debut book, Tough Jews, is a meticulously researched and engrossing account of Jewish gangsters living in Brooklyn in the 1930s. In his most recent work, Israel Is Real: An Obsessive Quest to Understand the Jewish Nation and its History, Cohen entertains all sides of the argument about Jewish identity. Tony Horwitz of The New York Times wrote "Rich Cohen's book accomplished the miraculous. It made a subject that vexed me since childhood into a riveting story...by narrating a oft-told saga of the Jews in a fresh and engaging fashion."
