With its unique focus on films made with "disposable" devices (cell phones, point-and-shoot cameras, webcams, single-use recorders), the Disposable Film Festival gleefully proves that we're all moviemakers at heart. The fest's opening night at the Roxie brings together hand-selected short entries from around the world, while the weekend's artist showcases at ATA include a screening of Red Bucket Films' follow-up to last year's Buttons and an artistic profile of Alex Itin, a New York-based filmmaker, writer, performance artist, and painter, who was a favorite of last year's fest. Ben Slotover and Peter Waldeck are also profiled. Sunday wraps up with a Disposable Filmmaking Workshop led by Blake Whitman, Community Director at Vimeo.com.
