Represent Oak-town! Zion I, aka MC Zumbi and DJ Amp Live, are bringing their West-coast, socially-conscious hip-hop to the Rickshaw Stop. The duo have produced acclaimed albums collectively, not to mention Amp's killer remixes of Radiohead, Tokyo Police Club, and the Submarines. Support slots are filled by even more Oaklanders: techno hip-hoppers, League 510, and the raunchy-fab members of Hottub. Whether you're traveling one city block, over the bridge, or through the tunnel, don't miss this night of raw Bay Area hip-hop.

Rickshaw Stop says…

Rickshaw Stop says:

Over the course of five LPs and numerous EPs and mixtapes, the Oakland group has proven to be a welcome enigma in hip-hop. Lyrically, singer Zumbi runs the gamut on a range of issues both serious and frivolous, discussing problems and pleasures both spiritual and worldly. Musically, producer Amp Live draws from both the usual (funk, soul) and esoteric (house, drum n bass) to create soundscapes that work as well on an electronic music mixtape as it does hip-hop.
