This Bay Area-based band plays different styles of Latin music including: Latin Jazz, Cha-Cha-Cha, Latin Rock, Latin Funk and Salsa. Lava covers such artists as Santana, Malo, Poncho Sanchez and War and also plays a number of standards that have been in the Top 40 over the past 30 years. Lava has had the privilege of opening for headliners Sapo, Malo, Pete Escovedo and Lenny Williams, former lead vocalist of Tower of Power. Lava features percussionist extraordinaire Mio "Timbalero" Flores on Timbales; he has either worked with, collaborated with, or been on tour with Santana, Malo, Pete Escovedo, War, and Los Mocosos. His fire on Timbales makes the band live up to their name...Lava!
