DAWN is a cultural arts festival who's raison d'être is to celebrate the Jewish holiday Shauvot in a spectacular and untraditional way. Tonight they take over the Academy of Sciences. Sandra Bernhard discusses spirituality and Daniel Handler (aka Lemony Snicket) slings cocktails. There's also performances by Afrobeat popsters Fool's Gold and a screening of Maurice at the World Fair — a short film created by Spike Jonze as an 80th birthday present for Maurice Sendak. And if you're still left seeking spiritual enlightenment, there's always the Academy of Science's awe-inspiring collection of flora and fauna.

California Academy of Sciences says…

DAWN 2010 Festival says:

Groove, learn, examine, discuss, and create at DAWN 2010, a late-night celebration of the Jewish holiday Shavuot at the California Academy of Sciences. Dawn 2010 takes a kaleidoscopic approach to programming, with concurrent lectures, performances and exhibitions throughout the Academy by headliners, including Sandra Bernhard in conversation; Russian Debutante’s Handbook author Gary Shteyngart; and a live performance by the inspirational band Fool's Gold.
