When Mark Andrew Gravel stumbled upon the glittering signage of a Mission shop called Gravel and Gold, he thought he might have found a long-lost cousin. He hadn't, but it was the beginning of his relationship with the store. A master of bean cuisine, he's been unearthing the legume's legacy as a staple of real-people food, and regional culture. At previous "Bean-Ins" at the shop, he has dispensed mini-talks complimented by expertly-prepared recipes from Boston to Managua. This time though, he's presenting the full-on "Bean-Out": an intimate, five-course meal around a communal table. It's all about beans and bringing people together.

Mark Andrew Gravel will be preparing a 5-course temporary restaurant happening at Gravel and Gold. There will be two seatings at 6pm and 8pm, for the laughably worth-it price of $20 a head.
