In early '70s San Francisco, before David Bowie and the Rocky Horror Picture Show, there were the Cockettes. This gender-bending, free-wheeling theatrical troupe helped inspire the glam movement, and once included drag legend Divine (she threw dead fish at the audience). Now, Thrillpeddlers are reviving the Cockettes' 1972 musical, Hot Greeks, an outrageous revue originally performed at midnight gigs in Chinatown. The show centers on an unlikely football showdown in ancient Greece, so expect plenty of glittery sorority girls and toga-clad Grecians, as well as local cabaret diva Connie Champagne. Act fast to catch the limited run of this slice of San Francisco history.

Hypnodrome says…

Thrillpeddlers says:

Thrillpeddlers is proud to announce production of a revival of the 1972 Cockettes musical extravaganza Hot Greeks, an original musical by Martin Worman and Richard Scrumbly Koldewyn. This show is part of our 3rd annual Theatre of the Ridiculous Revival, which will play in repertory with performances of the long-running hit musical Pearls Over Shanghai. Originally produced as a Nocturnal Dream Show and performed at midnight at the Palace Theatre in Chinatown in SF, Hot Greeks was the fabled and fabulous Cockettes only other scripted book musical besides Pearls Over Shanghai.
