Burlesque teacher Bombshell Betty describes herself as a "retrosexual" and a "body image activist." She's also the originator of Burlesquercise, which involves adding a little bump and grind (and a whole lot of fun) to your exercise routine. Today marks the start of Betty's Summer Camp series. For this, she has devised a workout based on synchronized swimming moves culled from the Busby Berkeley and Esther Williams aquacade movies of the '40s and '50s, adapted for performance in her dance studio rather than in the water. Don a retro swimsuit, tone your thighs, and increase your self-confidence while losing your self-consciousness. And don't forget, ladies: the va va voom moves you learn can also work in the boudoir.

Bombshell Betty says:

Summertime is coming, so it's time for Burlesquercise Summer Camp! This session, we'll be having fun with the burlesque-style synchronized swimming workout without a pool. So throw on your retro bathing suit, grab a beach towel and some sunglasses, and let's play. You'll also learn two brand new summer themed routines which will be performed at upcoming shows around the Bay Area. First, learn butterfly-inspired choreography to the jazz classic "Summertime," then a sassy hat and fan dance to "Too Darn Hot" from Kiss Me Kate. No nudity is required for either of these dance routines! I also teach Burlesquercise classes and run Pin-up Workshops year round in addition to the Summer Camp series. Please check the schedule here.
