When Dykes on Bikes led the 2008 SF Pride Parade down Market Street, some of them wore wedding veils and adorned their bikes with signs that read "Just Married." Two months later, Proposition 8 took away the rights of same-sex couples to wed (again). SF Pride celebrates its 40th birthday this year with the theme "Forty and Fabulous." This weekend's celebrations sees the Backstreet Boys perform, the Faerie Freedom Village, the Bearracuda Bear Garden, the usual flotillas of scantily clad go-go boys and glittery drag queens, and, of course, Dykes on Bikes. But amid all of the fabulousness, don't forget to also be fierce: go forward demanding nothing less than full equality under the law.

San Francisco Pride says:

The 40th Annual San Francisco LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) Pride Parade starts on June 27th at 10:30am. This year's theme in recognition of the 40th year and anniversary of the Pride celebration is "Forty and Fabulous." The parade will travel down Market Street from Market and Beale Street and end at Market Street and 8th Street. In addition, there is the two day celebration at Civic Center Plaza across from City Hall which starts on Saturday June 26 and ends on Sunday June 27th. This two day event in the City by the Bay is all about showing respect and pride to all homosexuals from all over, and to bring an end to defamation and homophobia.
