In 1943, Kasper Koojoolian established Kasper's Hot Dogs in Oakland's Temescal neighborhood. His grandson Harry Yaglijian, the third-generation owner of the stand, used to tell stories about serving hot dogs to women in labor who were craving Kasper's on their way to the hospital. Kasper's closed six years ago, but its neon signage lives on in the photo exhibit Oakland Lost and Found. The show's seven exhibiting photographers met each other via Flickr through a shared interest in retro fonts and the neon signage of Oakland's yesteryears. Check out the exhibit this month to add perspective to your love of da town — not just as it is, but also as it was.
