In 1921, a blind promotional campaign declared to the public that a "wonder" was about to be unveiled. The great new thing? Wonderbread. Perceptions of white bread have changed since then — so tonight, in the first of a four-part Sandwich Lab workshop by 18 Reasons, attendees are asked to reconsider white bread. But make no mistake, Sandwich Lab ain't just about bread. One of the hosts of the workshop, Sasha Wizansky, is Editor-in-Chief of Meatpaper, a magazine about... yep, meat. Attendees get to make and consume scrumptious turkey sandwiches inspired by the menu at Outerlands, the Ocean Beach surfer café. Grilled cheese is also available for non-meat-eaters. Be prepared to take your sammich very, very seriously.

Co-hosted by Meatpaper's Sasha Wizansky and Bi-Rite's Susan Kim, Sandwich Lab is a four-part series intended to get to the bottom of sandwich-mania. Attendees will learn about the sandwich from the outside in, make and eat many different sandwich types, and investigate why we love sandwiches oh so much. Be prepared to get your hands dirty!
