“Blitzen Trapper mastermind Eric Earley is the son of two folk musicians, and the grandson of a harmonica player who made his rounds in the bluegrass circuit of the Ozarks. Growing up in the Oregon woods, Eric got his first banjo at age six and has been making music ever since. He started the band in his Portland basement studio, and claimed the name from the side of a Winnebago that he once spotted on a freeway. Blitzen Trapper has since blossomed into a six-piece and toured with the likes of Wilco and Fleet Foxes. Tonight, get trapped by Earley's stories of heaven and earth crooned over the top of toe-tapping folk rock.”
Sub Pop Records says:
Blitzen Trapper is based in Portland, OR. Over the course of their four full-length albums front man Eric Earley's considerable poetic talents and his band's hard-earned chops have gained them a growing international audience. The band's continuing exploration of American music that spans from the '60s folk movement to the country sounds of the '70s, to the pop balladry and prog rock of the '80s. In January 2009 and again in January 2010, they entered the studio of lauded musician and studio engineer, Mike Coykendall (Bright Eyes, She and Him) to work on Destroyer of the Void. The resulting new album takes Blitzen Trapper further than ever before.
