“When Ariel Pink was discovered by the members of Animal Collective, he was recording songs out of his house using an 8-track tape recorder. Inspired by R. Stevie Moore (aka the Godfather of home recording), he started writing music at age ten and since then his sound has evolved into '60s-inspired freak folk rock. Though Pink is not particularly proficient at playing any instruments, he does create drum sounds using his mouth and sometimes an armpit. Tonight, see him in a new light — backed by the rock band Haunted Graffiti and playing songs from Before Today, the first album he's actually made in a recording studio.”

Originally a solo venture, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti evolved into a full-fledged band. Their music blends Lite FM and warped lo-fi pop into something beautiful and confusing, yet highly addictive. They veer from lo-fi disco pop to noisy and purposefully abrasive sonic blasts. Ariel Pink's forthcoming album, Before Today, will be released in June via 4AD.
