“Buxom, blonde Brigitte Bardot is known for inspiring French cinematographers and pop stars alike. As Serge Gainsbourg's one-time muse and lover, the vixen with a 19-inch waist recorded the erotically charged album Bonnie and Clyde and was the star of an obscene story involving a champagne bottle. (Sadly, Gainsbourg was too drunk to recall the salacious details). It's only fitting that her certain je ne sais quois would spark a groovy, Gallic dance party here in SF. Tonight, in honor of Bastille Day, get your go-go on to retro French pop, ye-ye, and soul. Expect tunes like "Allons Dans le Bois" by Nicole Paquin, "Ba Ba Ba… Boof" by Pussycat, and of course, "Harley Davidson" by Bardot and Gainsbourg. Don your best rouge, blanc, et bleu and start your own French dance revolution.”
Rickshaw Stop says:
Join us for our annual celebration of Bastille Day! Co-founders Brother Grimm, Pink Frankenstein, and Cali Kid will be playing the best in decadent '60s French pop and other retro-garage sounds. There will also be drink specials, go-go girls, and '60s French videos. Shagadelic attire encouraged. Bardot a Go Go celebrates its 12th year of playing swinging '60s French pop from the likes of Serge Gainsbourg, Jacques Dutronc, and of course Brigitte Bardot.
