Neil Young lives alongside his herds of cattle and llama on a ranch in Woodside, an hour south of San Francisco. He named the ranch Broken Arrow, after the Buffalo Springfield song that he wrote just before he purchased the property in 1970. He recorded Sleeps With Angels in the barn there — the album inspired by the death of Kurt Cobain, who quoted Young's lyric "It's better to burn out, than to fade away" in his suicide note. Tonight, the 64-year-old rock god drives up 880 and takes the stage at the Fox Theater, where he revisits intimate sets from his early days. The renditions may be acoustic, but this show still keeps you rockin' in the free world.

Another Planet Entertainment says:

After Neil Young left the Californian folk-rock band Buffalo Springfield in 1968, he slowly established himself as one of the most influential and idiosyncratic singer/songwriters of his generation. Young's body of work ranks second only to Bob Dylan in terms of depth, and he was able to sustain his critical reputation, as well as record sales, for a longer period of time than Dylan. Throughout his career, Young continued to move forward, writing new songs and exploring new music. That restless spirit ensured that he was one of the few rock veterans as vital in his old age as he was in his youth.
