When snake charmer Bruce Feldhammer lived in Africa, he would catch deadly venomous desert vipers himself with little more than a lantern. He has collected legless reptiles for most of his life and is an expert at breeding them. Snakes in captivity must be subjected to strict diets and temperature changes that mirror their natural environment in order to get them in the mood. And it can be hard to tell the male from female. Let's just say that when a certain area is probed, a male's "hemipenes" will protrude (bow chick-a wow-wow). Tonight, learn some hiss-tory about exotic snakes, some tips on collecting and breeding, and meet live specimens. Expect to inspect a South American Emerald tree boa, and Feldhammer's favorite snake, the central African Calabar burrowing python.
