Singer Lisa Ronson hit it off with the Secret History founder, Michael Grace Jr., in an Irish speakeasy one night and it wasn't long until she signed on to lend her vocal talents to the band. The gift of music runs in her family: her dad, Mick Ronson, played guitar with David Bowie during his glam-tastic Ziggy Stardust era. The Secret History formed out of the ashes of the indie-pop group My Favorite and though their style is in a similar vein, the new songs are spiked with a little more grit. Get lost in esoterically beautiful story arcs sung over dreamy synth melodies tonight and meet the spawn of one of the Spiders From Mars. Let's dance.

Rickshaw Stop says…

The Rickshaw Stop says:

Having written an album that was just labeled "best of the decade" in Pitchfork's P2K list, Michael Grace, Jr. (then of cult indie-pop icons My Favorite) and his decade long collaborators have remodeled their sound for the new decade with the Secret History. The band's debut LP, the World That Never Was, declares the beginning of the post-pop era with songs concerned with the monsters and ghosts of youth. Now joined by singer Lisa Ronson, the bright lights and shadows of Grace and co's songs come to life in a wholly new way, drawing comparisons to the Smiths, the Go-Betweens, and Roxy Music.
