“Spacey rock band 3 Leafs is a patchwork quilt of members from other Bay Area bands including the Fresh and Onlys, Ezee Tiger, Citay, Six Eye Colombia, and Subarachnoid Space. Their trippy, almost completely improvised compositions routinely draw comparisons to Krautrock legends Can. In fact, a Can singer, Damo Suzuki, selected the blissfully off-the-cuff 3 Leafs to join him on stage as part of the Damo Suzuki Network — he selects local bands in various cities to act as his backing band. Tonight they hit the Amnesia stage with their complex, stuttering rhythms and hypnotic, lush melodies. Out of this world.”

This stuff is awesome. Blissed out, effects flecked krauty space rock, heavy on the drift and shimmer and meander. Strings buzz, sounds swoop and stutter backwards, the drums are simple and motorik, synths whir, flutes flutter, the group slips from full on heart of the sun space jam, to Circle-esque hypno-rock, to ethereal almost ambient groove, to Eastern style ur-drone, to Santana sounding Latin tinged psychedelic rock, to heavy tripped out metallic sounding stoner rock freakouts, to full on trippy dubbiness, all woven into one extended and nearly seamless druggy outrock sprawl — Aquarius Records.
