“Can you smell that smell? Well now you can eat it too. SF aromachologist Yosh Han has created custom scents for 826 Valencia and Burning Man, but she also uses her passion for olfaction to spice things up in the kitchen. 15 years ago, when Han lived in rural Virginia, she found it difficult to get authentic Thai food. While attempting to make her own, she substituted basil and lemongrass essential oils, normally used in her perfumes, for the real thing, et voila! Han has gone on to mix perfume and food — creating chocolate perfumes for the likes of Temper Chocolates and chef Gary Danko. Today, she shows you how to use essential oils to make lavender shortbread cookies and cardamom rose vanilla whipped cream. Now the tough question: wear it or eat it?”
