In A Bigger Splash (1974), a hybrid of documentary and fictional filmmaking, actors play themselves in situations that may or may not have occurred in real life. Originally banned for its homosexual content, the film serves as a portrait of then up-and-coming art star David Hockney and his emotional world before and after a breakup with his lover and model, Peter Schlesinger.
