“The three-part improv structure known as the Harold was invented by SF comedy troupe the Committee in 1967, who jokingly coined the name while driving home from a performance in their VW bus. The gist: the performers accept topics from the audience and take turns making up bits based on their own ideas. Then, they tie the scenes together as a group for the finale. Half a decade later, the Upright Citizens Brigade have the style down to a science. Currently made up of Amy Poehler, Matt Besser, Ian Roberts, and Matt Walsh, UCB is an improv institution and own theaters NY and LA where they hold workshops and nightly shows. Tonight, they return to where it all began and perform their side-splitting spoofs based on the suggestions you shout out. Get ready to LOL!”
Upright Citizens Brigade says:
The UCB Theatre is the greatest producer of comedic talent in America today and the Upright Citizens Brigade Touring Company has partnered with Pan Theater to bring the very best of their theatre in LA directly to downtown Oakland. These will be the funniest comedy shows in the Bay Area this summer. These shows will sell out. Buy your tickets now.
