Dore Alley
between Folsom and Howard Sts
“The Up Your Alley fetish festival was founded in 1986 by Patrick Toner, a year after he was awarded the title of International Mr. Leather Daddy. It was first held in Ringold Alley — one of his favorite trysting spots. His goal: to help celebrate the leather lifestyle, unite the community in the face of the AIDS epidemic, and raise money for charity. In 1987, the fair moved three blocks to Dore Alley. Today, 12,000 leatherfolk from all around the world descend on the Miracle Mile in their fetish finery. Expect leather chaps, Highway Patrolmen costumes, and plenty of Prince Albert piercings. Don't expect any public friskiness though: in recent years public officials have clamped down and imposed an erection embargo.”
Note:
There is a $5 suggested donation for this event. Those who choose to donate will receive a sticker awarding them $1 off each beverage purchase.
Folsom Street Events says:
The Up Your Alley Fair (previously the Dore Alley Street Fair) is located in San Francisco's South of Market district on Dore Alley between Folsom and Howard Streets and the adjoining blocks of Folsom Street between 9th and Juniper Streets. In 2008, we added 10th Street to the fair grounds and moved the Magnitude Dance area there in order to alleviate crowding.
