“Ever since he was a kid, Jesse Schell has been utterly obsessed with all things playable — from cards to video games. He even put himself through computer science school working as a juggler in a mime circus. Over the years, his professional résumé has included imagining up park attractions at the Disney Virtual Reality studios; teaching the next generation of game innovators at the Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon University; and starting his own successful development company. Today, he lectures on how technology and gaming has ingrained itself into our culture from Facebook contests to never-ending iterations of advanced, sensor-riddled consoles. He predicts a future where even cereal boxes have screens and internet connections. Game on!”
YBCA says:
Games perpetually revolutionize computer use toward denser interaction with the human mind. To do that, they perpetually revolutionize themselves. Understanding the next frontiers of the genre is one way to understand where society is going. In this talk, Jesse Schell explores the social, cognitive, and technological trends in computer game design and use.
