Seattle-based musician Josh "J" Tillman is best known as the drummer of Fleet Foxes. But he also has indie-folk credentials all his own: he's penned and recorded seven solo albums over the last six years. Tillman is also well-known for his magnificent beard that like looks like it belongs on a Civil War general. His fans are so enamored with it that he receives catcalls like "I want to live in your beard" during gigs. It's not a folkster fashion statement though: he's maintained facial fuzz for years due to a nerve condition that affects his right eye and makes it hard to see his face while shaving. Tonight, meet the man behind the beard and discover his beautiful, careful, and at times heartbreaking folk music.

Bottom of the Hill says…

Yer Bird Records says:

The songs from J. Tillman on the Cancer and Delirium album are still imbued with the same strikingly disconsolate singing and devastatingly poignant prose that he is known for and continually accented with gorgeous, spare arrangements. A sound that shines brightest while alone on a darkened stage. J. Tillman is the pinnacle of the hushed singer songwriter, period.
