“Best place for fireworks this Fourth of July? Get photography tips and eat funnel cake with the Bay Area Night Photography crew, who are camping out on Treasure Island to shoot the ring shells and chrysanthemums. From their location on Avenue of the Palms, you can see the three firework displays in San Francisco, Oakland, and Berkeley. You also get free photography tips about exposure, how to stabilize your tripod, and how to prevent condensation from forming on your lens should the fog roll in. Those who can't face the bridge traffic can rock out to Tainted Love's '80s rock at Pier 39. The USS Potomac offers a dessert and champagne cruise. If you're going for panoramic scope, the Marin Headlands and North Berkeley's Indian Rock both offer views of the whole bay. Kaboom!”
Note:
RSVP to Bay Area Night Photography to join in the fun.
Bay Area Night Photography says:
As most are probably aware, SF is subject to fog, cold winds and heavy mist in the summer months. You need to be prepared for any temperature from 90 degrees to 40 with no wind to much wind. Therefore, dress in layers and include a hat, warm gloves, and a waterproof windbreaker in addition to a sweater and other layers. You may want to bring a blanket for the ground, a blanket for yourself and/or a small, light folding chair. The fireworks start at 9:30 so please get there early to secure your spot.
