“Traveling Light, Joe Goode Performance Group's latest production, is aptly titled. The local company doesn't need to bring much with them given their stage — the cavernous interior of San Francisco's oldest stone construction, the Old Mint Building. Playing off the subtler resonances of the title's meaning, the group employs the Mint's grand architecture as a choreographic and conceptual frame while exploring larger issues of sustainability and resource scarcity. Breathing new life into an empty monument of an earlier age of capitalism, Joe Goode and company ask us to consider, in the face of this economic climate, what baggage and gifts we will bring into the future.”
Joe Goode Performance Group says:
Back by popular demand! Joe Goode Performance Group returns to the Old Mint with the astounding performance installation Traveling Light. Staged in the haunting, decadent beauty of the historic San Francisco Mint, Traveling Light takes the audience on a journey through the vaults and chambers of the oldest stone building in San Francisco. These performances are a unique opportunity to enjoy an innovative mashup of athletic dance and close-up theater in this historic building.
