John Hughes was the king of teen movies. Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) is still one of his most popular flicks, but it is also the filmmaker's ode to his home town of Chicago. The entire movie is a whirlwind adventure around the Windy City: Ferris sings "Danke Schoen" on a float at Chicago's yearly Von Steuben Day Parade and his girlfriend Sloan gets picked up from the steps of John Hughes' own high school, Glenbrook North High. The director's camera lens also visits the Art Institute of Chicago, Wrigley Field, and the Skydeck of Sears Tower. Hughes died last year, but tonight come out to Dolores Park and raise a glass to one of the most nostalgic movies he ever produced. And to Mr. Hughes, danke.

Mission Dolores Park says…

Film Night in the Park says:

School is rubbish. I know it, you know it, and Ferris Bueller knows it. Which is why he's decided to fake out his folks with a pretend dose of sniffles, round-up his girlfriend and best bud, and get down to some serious truanting in the Chicago sun.
