Following the box office success of Basic Instinct (1992), scriptwriter Joe Eszterhas went on a Las Vegas lap dance bender to research his next movie Showgirls (1995). He ordered escorts via Yellow Pages and confesses to taking a casting couch approach with his interviewees. The result: a screenplay with a $3 million price tag, the character Nomi Malone (phonetically "know me I'm alone"), and the line "it must be weird not having anyone c*m on you." The resulting movie featured 170 bare breasts and won seven Golden Raspberry awards. It's become a cult classic, thanks to Peaches Christ and her annual screenings and reenactments of the dance scene where Malone bursts out of a volcano. Tonight Peaches hosts a 15th-anniversary special, which features a free lap dance with every purchase of large popcorn. Thrust it!

The Castro Theatre says…

Peaches Christ says:

Peaches Christ Productions wants you to dust off your glittery g-strings for a special one night, interactive presentation of a Night of 1,000 Showgirls at the majestic Castro Theatre with your host, Peaches Christ. To celebrate the 15th-anniversary of the seminal camp classic, Peaches and company will kick off the night with the "Volcanic Goddess" pre-show. To make this Peaches Christ extravaganza especially "trash-tastic," audiences are invited to embrace their desire for sequins, glitter, and Doggy Chow by dressing up and competing to be the next "Goddess" in the "Nomi-Malone Look-A-Like Contest."
