“They may be young, similarly-named music festivals, but don't confuse On Land with Outside Lands. While the latter sprawls across Golden Gate Park every summer, On Land occupies just two intimate venues — Café Du Nord and the Swedish American Hall. The festival is curated by local label Root Strata and showcases sonic experimenters like Barn Owl and Grouper. This year On Land has added two nights and an additional ten performers, including Nate Boyce — a visual artist who specializes in "retinal fatigue." Yes, this fest lands outside — outside the mainstream.”

The On Land Festival, now in it's second year and curated by Root Strata focuses on the current trajectory in underground music today. The festival features multiple experimental genres (electronic, alt-folk, dream-pop, drone/noise/found sound, post rock, soundscapes etc) and features 4 nights and nearly 30 artists from the American West Coast and around the world.
