The 34th Mill Valley Film Festival kicks off with co-openers Albert Nobbs, starring Glenn Close as a woman who lives as a man to avoid poverty in 19th century Ireland, and the Duplass brothers' comedy Jeff Who Lives at Home, starring Jason Segel and Ed Helms as brothers who embark on a misadventure that's less Hangover and more mumblecore charmer. The diverse selection of world cinema, documentaries, and shorts includes a spotlight on Michelle Yeoh and her role as Burmese activist Aung San Suu Kyi in Luc Besson's The Lady.
