SF Weekly's Masterminds competition is intended to support emerging Bay Area artists by offering grants to winning artists who are deemed to be somewhere in the neighborhood of emergence, and could use a helping hand. This year's ARTOPIA showcases the works of the 10 finalists of this year's Masterminds, and the three winners of this year's grants will be announced. Amongst the finalists are Southern Baptist-born Biblical deconstructionist Jon Kuzmich, cross-disciplanarian self-photo painter Lisa Alonzo, SF street performers Detour Dance, wine photographer Eric Cohen, and more. This is an especially well-curated event and is sure to carry about it a special buzz of something great on the way.

Public Works says…

Join us as SF Weekly hosts its Fifth Annual ARTOPIA, a showcase of our Masterminds Finalists. The night will be filled with fun and entertainment for all with our Masterminds Finalists featuring their art in various categories. Guests will enjoy a hosted bar, performances from local artists, live music, a collaborative art project and much more. A portion of the proceeds from the evening will go towards the grants awarded in the evening to the three finalists. Music by Aaron Axelsen (Live 105 / Popscene).
