“Yeah. The Oscars. Yawn. They happen every year with all of the pomp and circumstance befitting a royal coronation, but with less substance and intrigue. However, as with any annual entertainment awards ceremony (particularly ones where the winners are chosen by white men), the fun comes with a) taking bets, and b) attending viewing parties. Join the Roxie as it opens its theater for a screening of the 84th Academy Awards, beginning with the red carpet show at 4pm and going all night long til the bitter end. Since it's at the Roxie, you can bet there'll be some sarcasm and snarkiness amidst the audience — but chances are you'll also be treated to a genuine tear-jerker of an awards speech or two.”

Oh yeah? Billy Crystal? That's pretty exciting. Brave choice, Academy Awards. It would be great if some costume dramas or period pieces or inspirational family dramas or 3D environmental allegories FINALLY got their due at the Kodak Theater. For the umpteenth year (maybe 20, but who's counting?!), we'll provide some FREE hors-d'oeuvres, but it's a long show, so come well provisioned with food & drink. Also – bring high heels and a bad attitude. Doors open at 3:45 (15 minutes before the Red Carpet show begins).
