The Contemporary Jewish Museum is the newest addition to the Yerba Buena arts district, re-opening its new Daniel Libeskind-designed digs in 2008. While its hard not to focus on the geodesic glass cube that Libeskind seemingly lobbed into the side of the 1909 Jessie Street PG&E Power Substation, the museum's exhibits – that have examined Jewish culture and identity through such lenses as record covers and the art of Maurice Sendak – are fascinating in their own right and certainly not identity politics as usual.
