One of four city-owned cultural centers, SOMArts is an oasis of community-based art and performance in the heart of the now quasi-industrial South of Market neighborhood. Granting access to any artist living and working in San Francisco, SOMArts has held everything from queer punk rock festivals to printmaking classes. Off site, SOMArts provides behind-the-scenes support for many of the city’s most popular parades, street fairs, and festivals.
