We have created Yoga at the Great Lawn to share the many gifts of yoga and we are honored to be hosting an event of this magnitude. We also understand the huge responsibility we have to our planet earth to produce the event with a sensitivity to the environment. Flavorpill, Elena Brower, our sponsors and partners are all committed to ensure we do our best to have as little environmental impact as possible while creating a high quality experience that will be enjoyed by thousands of people.
Below are some of the core highlights of what we're doing to make this event friendly to the environment. In years to come we will do more and more as we understand our crucial responsibility to our community and the planet.
» Asking all attendees to follow a "
Leave No Trace" policy for the event
» Recycling all plastic water bottles on premises
» Event generators are all biodiesel from
Greennow
» All vinyl stage signage will be re-used as raw material for Flavorpill's Green Roof Project
» Giving all participants the option to donate their mat to
Bent On Learning and collecting all mats left behind to donate as well
» Our sponsor
Otarian, a low carbon restaurant, is providing vegan snacks in 100% compostable packaging
» Our sponsor
ChicoBags, whose mission is to reduce plastic bag usage, is giving away a 100% recycled reusable bag to each participant
» Our sponsor
Alternative Appparel, a eco-conscious clothing company, is providing all our staff and volunteers with 100% organic, naturally dyed shirts and yoga pants
» Asking our audience to donate to an oil spill aid organization (TBA) who will be on site collecting donations
We appreciate everyone's support in these efforts listed above and are open to
suggestions on ways we can make Yoga at the Great Lawn an even more environmentally and socially responsible event in future years. Namaste NYC.
